Who are we?
FinnFun Finnish School of Vancouver is a non-profit organization born to promote and keep Finnish culture and language alive and thriving in the Greater Vancouver Area.
We do fundraising events and collect funds by organizing fun events for families. All donations to provide children with the needed equipment for the school year.
FinnFun is part of the Vancouver Finlandia Club, and for the past 40 years, we have helped both children and adults connect with their Finnish roots and promote Finnish language and culture studies.
We are always looking for new people to join our community. Let’s get in touch!
Words from our Chairman of the Board
Greetings from the Chair of the Board,
Maintaining the Finnish language and culture abroad is very important - and also challenging. Things that belong to Finnishness such as language, customs, traditions, holidays and typical foods unite Finns abroad and all other people who are interested and enthusiastic about Finland and the Finnish language. The preservation of Finnishness in the world must be taken care of.
FinnFun is a Finnish school in the greater Vancouver area. School is too narrow and a bit misleading as a word and does not appropriately describe our activities. We offer fun activities for children and adults of all ages who are interested in the Finnish language and Finnishness, and we promote people's networking and thereby the well-being and growth of the Finnish community.
FinnFun was founded in 1985. 2025 will be our 40th anniversary! I warmly welcome you all to participate in FinnFun's activities and come along to come up with ideas and develop an even more fun Finnish school together!
Best wishes,
Tanja Sabell

Spreading Finnish Language and Culture since 1985
FinnFun Finnish School of Vancouver is one of over 100 official Suomi Schools operating under the Finnish Ministry of Education. The first regular Suomi School offering Finnish language studies was founded in Canada in the 1960s. FinnFun Finnish School of Vancouver opened its doors in 1985.
Today, we offer Finnish language and culture studies both online and in person at the Scandinavian Centre in Burnaby. We organize events throughout the greater Vancouver area and are a vibrant community of Finns and Finnish culture enthusiasts.
